If you have a rail that you wrench on your self, has less travel than you really want, could use more power, you didn’t buy it new in the last 5 years, you can never get out of it what you put into it, but you love the hell out of it just the same as someone with a V8 long travel car. Then YOU are the owner of a Below 10K car.

Three years ago I picked up my first rail. A Corvair powered 2 seater with a standard VW front end. It was A MESS!!! But I loved it!!! My first ride out in it was a two hour through the dunes at Glamis California. I was AMAZED at what this little 110 could do. I had ridden every thing but motorcycles off road. But that two hours in this "POS" or "starter rail" had me hooked!!! This was my new baby.

Sad to say my second trip was on hard packed and lasted all of about 15 minutes, until I spun a stub axle. But that was "O-kay" I had plans for changing the floor and relocating the seats. A half inch of head room just wasn’t cutting it. So that Summer I preceded taking it down to the frame. That is where the adventure begun. So I went out on my own with VERY LITTLE knowledge of Corvair power plants, and sand rails in general. I soon found there were LOTS of people out there with the know how, experience, and advice to help me with every aspect of how to get my rail back together. I had to search high and low, E-mail people, more than once on occasion, make phone calls, and find honest people to get parts from to do it. Below 10k.com is here so YOU don’t have to search high and low for information, tips, tricks and advice on your sand rail.

Would I like a new rail? SURE!!! Who wouldn’t? But for now this below 10K car works just fine. I can go anywhere a person with a $40K car can go but I’d just have to take a slightly different line OR meet them there 5 minutes later. If someone has $30K more to put in a rail so they can get there 5 minutes faster... more power to em. (No pun intended) So YES the way we drive our cars are a bit different than those Long Travel High Horse Power rails Below 10K IS NOT about hating on people who can afford bigger cars. It’s just a place where we can swap tips, tricks, advice, stories, pictures and info on out Below 10K cars.

We’ve put together a site that to help people with just about any rail that would be valued below 10K.

From stock VW to Subaru’s. Two or four seaters. Everything from front to back, Riding places to safety tips. If there is something that relates to your Below 10K car

THIS IS THE PLACE TO FIND WHAT YOU NEED OR SHARE WHAT YOU KNOW. THIS IS YOUR WEBSITE. You may find right off the bat that there are quite a few areas that have no information yet. If that is the case then feel free to go to the forums section and ask what you need to know. If you have knowledge of an area with little info please feel free to post what you know. This site is TINY and has LOTS of room to grow. I COULD have done years of research on each type of engine, welding, fabrication, plumbing, wiring, wheels, tires, lighting, paint, steering and never come close to the amount of knowledge that has kept 7 out of every 10 rails off road today Below 10K.

Together we can give a little and take a little to keep our rails BELOW 10K.
